Fisk Lab at URI Cancer Evolution and Education

Gift Rebecca Asefon is a PhD student in Cell and Molecular Biology with a Bioinformatics focus at the University of Rhode Island, bringing a rich foundation in biochemistry and computational biology to cancer research. With a first-class honors B.Tech in Biochemistry from Nigeria and extensive experience in next-generation sequencing, comparative genomics, and drug discovery, she leverages her wet lab experience to inform her bioinformatics analyses.

In the Fisk lab, Gift is working to bridge the gap between computer vision and evolutionary approaches to cancer, especially breast cancer. Her work sits in a translational space trying to leverage multimodal data to the fullest to improve outcomes in cancer.
